This spot will take your breath away ! Just a short walk from the Yacht Club, swimming float and Ruggles Park along Shore Road resides this wonderfully refurbished early 1900's Victorian cottage on the shores of Penobscot Bay. These owners did the renovations right by keeping all the charm of the last century but with all the comfortable amenities to make it feel like home.
Upon entering the cottage, you are welcomed by a well appointed kitchen with ample cabinets, double sink, windows overlooking the bay and loads of sunlight. There is a sweet little antique table and chairs to keep the chef company while you wait for your meals or have your morning coffee. An old hoosier cabinet is perfect for storing food and other dry goods. Off the kitchen is a large bath with shower. The walls and ceilings are all wood with beadboard finish.
Heading forward is a cozy living room with ample seating for six and a lovely gas fired "wood" stove for evening fires when the temps get cool. The living area also has a TV/DVD/VCR and a CD player. There are great water views from the living room as well and tucked off to the side is an antique dining table tucked into a well lit corner with windows all around. The dining table also can seat six.
A fabulous glass porch with wicker furnishings is along the waterfront side of the cottage just forward of the living/dining area. A futon couch makes for a great double bed if one chooses to sleep in the breezes and sounds of the ocean. All new windows and walls were added in the fall of 2006 providing a stunning view of the Bay with Sears Island, Blue Hill and Islesboro in the background. To the north, the Bay views include the Bayside mooring field, dock and the entrance to Belfast Harbor.
A staircase from the living room leads you to the master bedroom suite on the ocean side of the cottage. The room has an antique bed frame with queen mattress. The room has built in closets and a large double glass door to a tiny deck with table and two chairs for morning coffee or a bird's eye view to the Bay for afternoon reading. The ceilings are open to the rafters giving more "space" to the room. A private bath is off the bedroom with beadboard walls, claw foot tub, separate shower and antique vanity with sink.
Outside the master bedroom, a short hallway opens to the second bedroom with a double bed, cathedral ceilings and sizable closet.
A second exit from this room leads to the back bedroom and another set of stairs that leads back to the kitchen area. The back bedroom has two twin beds, lots of room, built in closets and dresser. There are several windows in this room bringing in light from various angles. The sloped wood ceilings add to the charm of this great resting place.
Heading back down the rear staircase, you come to a glass exit door leading to a small deck where the gas grill is located. Also in this space is a full washer / dryer area behind louver doors.
Most of the floors in the cottage are solid pine with cut nails which were common in the early 1900's. Many of the walls are whitewashed to providing wonderful light and charm to the cottage. Vaulted ceilings are throughout the second floor, even in the private master bath.
Saving the best for last, a great crushed stone patio is accessible from the glass porch by a curving staircase. The patio is very large and has privacy but also great views of the bay. Another set of stairs leads right down to the beach with a HUGE deck right at the edge of the water. Access to the beach is just off this deck.
Cameo cottage is truly an exceptional get away. Don't delay in asking for this cottage, it will be highly desired by all who see it or have been here before.

A perfect week @ Cameo !
Thank you fro sharing your beautiful cottage with us . I was a most wonderful & restful vacation for our 1st time in Bayside .
The ceiling fans were a nice addition to our comfort on hot evenings. Lots of puzzling & cards & games o the magnificent porch !
Even the water was warm enough to enjoy this week. Our daughter learned to sail. We lunched in Camden by the falls and climbed Mt. Battie ( awesome view ) . The boys went to Fort Knox. Breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.
With much appreciation

A picture perfect vacation !
We truly loved our stay at Cameo Cottage! Definitely a home away from home right down to the pink kitchen aid Mixer !
We loved the views, the décor and the tranquility. Many puzzles were assembled, books were read and we even collected an entire jar of beach glass.
Thank you so much for a truly wonderful vacation. We can’t wait to come back. And visit again.
Sincerely
