Step back in time when life was much more relaxing and carefree. This is how you feel when walking into this authentic Bayside cottage of the early 20th century. You are welcomed by a cozy covered porch where you will spend much of your time dining, reading and just lounging in the shadows of Ruggles Park and the Bayside dock just a short walk away.

Upon entering the cottage, a large living room is furnished with period furniture, a hooked rug and gas heater. The formal dining area is just beyond the living room with seating for four. Off the dining room is a small deck with a gas grill. To the right of the dining room is a small but functional kitchen with electric stove, coffee maker and microwave.

Just off the kitchen is a small bath with an old pedestal sink and shower. All the interior first floor wood walls are whitewashed to provide a light and airy feeling to the cottage.

Heading up the stairs, there is a bedroom to the left with two twin beds. It feels like a bunkhouse and is perfect for a couple of children.

To the right off the stairs is the first room with a double bed and cottage furnishings. A pass through leads to the third bedroom with a double bed and similar furnishings. (both doubles have new matresses (2010) All the ceilings and walls are natural wood with the exposed rafters. The wood has turned to a warm amber color from decades of exposure to light and ocean air.

We feel the Chittick cottage is perfect for the vacationing family who enjoys the simplicity of life without all the amenities of the 21st century. Many renters have loved staying here and experiencing the beauty and slower pace of Bayside. The cottage is perfect for four people with occasional guest.

Parking here is LIMITED to one vehicle as there is no private driveway for this cottage.
