This is a spot that will take your breath away!
Right on the shores of Penobscot Bay, this lovely one level cottage is about a mile down Shore Road from Ruggles park - a great retreat from the busier side of Bayside. A beautiful private staircase leads you to this fabulous waterfront for morning walks, wading, watching the seals, porpoise and loons , sunbathing or just watching the boats go by. Islesboro is just a few miles from shore providing a painting like backdrop to the ocean foreground.
Inside the cottage, ALL of the rooms have views of the water. The owners have made renovations that take full advantage of the panoramic views and totally give you the sensation you are outside even when you are in.
Entering from the roadside, you come into a small hallway that leads to the main living area, guest bedroom and small bathroom. The guest room has two twins, wood ceilings and walls, antique furnishings and windows to the ocean views. The half bath with sink and toilet is new and nicely located at opposite ends of the house from the full bathroom.
The main living area is like a small great room with a galley kitchen, a small dining area for 4 and living room that is comfortable for 5-6 people. A full wall of glass along the ocean side provides complete unrestricted views of the ocean. A new double sliding door allows for ocean views to the north and leads to a cozy wrap around deck for outdoor living and a gas grill for cooking. The living room also has a gas fired cast iron stove for evening fires and a TV/DVD. The walls and elevated ceilings are wood.
Off the living room to the south is a recently renovated sun porch with new casement windows throughout. A great place to read in the afternoon or take a nap in the ocean breeze on the day bed. If the weather doesn't cooperate, it would be a great place for evening cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.
Heading away from the kitchen, a small hall leads to the full bath (oversized shower) and master bedroom. The bedroom has lofted ceilings and a row of windows providing light and views from the bay. The bed is a queen with antique furnishings, closet and dresser. A small seating area is perfect for plugging in a laptop for a quick looks at emails or writing a few letters while on holiday.
This cottage is perfect for a small family or a couple looking for privacy with incredible access to the water for swimming, kayaking, or long walks along the beach. It will make for a most memorable Maine holiday.
