~ Update April 2012 ~ Sophisticated yet relaxed is how I would describe this great little cottage - Now furnished - much progress has been made and I think you can see how wonderful this will be for your summer vacation -
Positioned high on a bluff overlooking Penobscot Bay, this elegantly rebuilt cottage is located on Shore Road just about a mile from the center of Bayside. Views to the water can be appreciated by every room in the cottage. The cottage at this writing is still under construction but the project will be completed by the first of the year and the details will be completed in the spring.
As you arrive at the cottage, you are be welcomed by a 10x12 deck with outdoor seating and dining furniture with sweeping views of the bay. Entering the cottage, you walk into a very bright open floor plan with numerous windows, hardwood floors and tasteful furnishings.
The living / dining areas are open to each other with a kitchen area off to the side. A half bath is located just off the living room. A custom stone fireplace (gas) is built right into the corner wall of the living room offering cozy warmth and atmosphere to any chilly evenings on the bay. A flat screen 40" TV / DVD is mounted on the wall with Satellite cable selections.
Six large opening windows face the ocean allowing excellent views and fresh Maine air throughout the cottage.
The kitchen is fully equipped with stove/oven, dishwasher, built in microwave, large single bowl stainless sink, counter appliances and lots of storage and cabinet space. The floors are beautiful solid stone tiles and the walls have a beautiful stone backsplash. The generous counters are all done in granite. The custom built dining table and antique corner hutch add the final touches to dining space.
The very large decorative wrought iron spiral stairs were locally built and lead up to the second level. The stairs are wide and easy to navigate, especially with the well lit staircase by four large two story windows during the day and excellent lighting in the evenings. A hallway on the second level leads you to the two bedrooms and full bath.
The master bedroom has a queen bed with 4 large windows offering views to the Bay. The floors are hardwood and there is a generous closet for clothing with a second closet for the washer/dryer. Ceilings are vaulted to add more space and openness to the room.
The second bedroom is smaller with two twin beds. This room also has views to the bay and ample windows for good ventilation. A good size closet is also included in this room. Wood floors complete the cottage feel of this room as well.
The upstairs bathroom has a tub/shower unit with custom tiled walls , a curved curtain rode and stone tiled floors. The bathroom is also bright and cheery with a large vanity sink.
