This cottage, previously called the Bowen cottage was very much desired by many of our rental clients due to the layout, privacy and fabulous unobstructed views of the Bay. These attributes have
been dramatically enhanced by the new owners who had the vision to make a historic cottage meet the needs of more modern living without losing the charm of a 1900's cottage.
The results are a fantastic upgrade that will be very much desired by new and returning renters alike.
The former living room space has been converted to a large
master bedroom with a king bed, separate entry and new windows providing gorgeous views of the water, southeasterly breezes and outstanding sunrises.
A small bathroom with standing tiled shower has
just been added in the king bedroom. A set of double French doors opens up to the newly created living / dining area.
Over 20 feet of glass doors and walls keeps every area of the cottage overlooking the Bay from Belfast harbor to Sears island to Turtle Head off Islesboro Island and points south. Sliding glass doors opens up to a deck that runs along the entire front of the cottage. The deck leads to a small oceanfront yard.
The home has beautifully refinished hard wood floors throughout.
The remainder of the first floor has two large open areas, for dining with seating for up to eight guests and a living space with comfortable furnishings, fabulous views and TV. A full bathroom with clawfoot tub/shower is off the main living area.
Two large antique church pews have been refinished and are a focal point to the rooms.
A galley kitchen provides efficient space for creating wonderful meals . The kitchen is well equiped with all you need to cook in.
A gas grill is also provided for outdoor cooking.
Heading upstairs, return renters will notice the many improvements in the renovation. All new walls and ceilings have been installed to provide more privacy between the rooms. One of the rooms has a queen bed, the other has two twins. Walls and floors have been brightly painted and all bedding is new.
The center landing is still in place and has a day bed for reading or sleeping.
We can't describe the feel that this cottage has with the relation to the water. The sailboat mooring field in the foreground, Blue Hill and Turtle Head in the background, lobster boats checking their traps, club sailboat races, all in view of this highly perched property overlooking the daily activities of Penobscot Bay.
The revitalization of Windy Corner has been done with care and vision that you will appreciate and want to return to year after year.
