A Waterfront Cottage with Views of Penobscot Bay & Islesboro Island

When you think about an oceanfront vacation this is the house you picture. Glorious, seemingly endless, sunny Maine summer days with trips back and forth to the beach. You will split your time between coffee on the front porch,  to searching for sea glass on the pristine beach,  eating late wholesome lunches, dips in the refreshing bay, and dinner with the sun setting at your back. All to do it over again he next day.  Don’t plan many day trips, you likely won’t want to leave this gem of a spot. You will be very comfortable in this spacious and highly desirable cottage within easy walking access to the golf course and all that Bayside has to offer. A superb living space for a large family or two couples sharing a memorable Bayside vacation together.

Features & Floorplan

This home retains much of the charm and history of the typical Bayside cottage. As you enter the mudroom door, you are welcomed by a fabulously large kitchen with all the appliances including dishwasher, microwave, and coffee maker. There are ample cabinets and storage for the fully stocked kitchen and pause-this place has a pantry!!! There is a great little bar area that opens in the dining room. The dining area then opens to a huge and comfortable porch that features wood floors and a ceiling fan. You can open three doors to make the porch feel like another large room that summer breezes can flow through.  There is a reason this lovely place was named Northporch, you will likely spend most of  your time on it.  It’s well furnished with a dining table, wicker furniture, a full sized swing to sway on, and skylights.

The whole first floor is open concept, the dining room and kitchen flow into the living room. The ceilings are high and the house is decorated in beautiful seaside greens and blues with pops  of yellow.  The living room is comfortable with views out to the Bay. There is also a two sided propane stove if you happen to get a snuggly, rainy day to read a good book,  make traction on that big puzzle, or play a marathon board game.   There is the sweetest little library area on the other side of the propane stove that has a window seat, with a view of the ocean!

The first floor also offers a lovely renovated bathroom in a beautiful shade of blue with a pressed tin ceiling. A standing shower stall finishes off this three part bathroom.

This cottage has everything you’ll want
in a Maine vacation – a full deep screened in porch,
waterfrontage, a coastal village
at your fingertips.

A  stenciled stairway off the dining room leads you past two stained glass windows to the upstairs hallway opening to all three bedrooms and a bathroom with an antique claw foot tub. Two of the bedrooms have water views. One has a two twin beds with stenciled  furnishings; it is bright and blue. The second water view room has a king bed, high ceilings and traditional wicker furnishings. The master bedroom has a large master bathroom with a view of the ocean. There is also a large standing shower that is a coveted treasure in Bayside cottages. The third bedroom has a full sized bed.

The guest house! What a great spot for grandparents / in-laws / friends  / or another family to enjoy Northporch with you. This sweet little place faces the ocean just steps away from the main house. A queen bed and built in bunk beds share one room. There is a large bathroom with a standing shower.  You can enjoy your own little porch or head over to see what the rest of the crew is doing at the main house.   Ahhh, your own little guest house in which to take a luxurious summer nap after reading a chapter of a good book.

Northporch is on a large green lot where you feel separated from neighbors and the haustle and bustle of everyday life.  You might even forget where you left your sandals as you go from the porch across the lawn and down the beach stairs. You might seen the occasional person stroll by, otherwise this beach is yours. What a joy!   Northporch is located before you enter the main village of Bayside, but it’s a quick walk via beach or road, and an equally quick walk to the Bayside Country Store for an ice cream cone or The Hoot for a delicious brunch or unique dinner alfresco.

*The main house, and guest house will be repainted in the fall of 2021.
